This was a custom art installation in Nederland, Colorado. The challenge with installing art onto a wall of logs is the fact that the logs protrude off of the surface of the wall at different depths. This requires the use of longer screws so they can stick out far enough to plane with the log that protrudes from the wall the most, so the piece hangs straight up and down and the bottom of the piece will not stick out farther than the top.
This was a custom fabrication and art installation for a residence in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado. The client wanted to have a piece of functional art that could modulate the light and thus facilitate a piece of art that would have the ability to change its expression simply by adjusting the angles of the shutter blades. The installation component was relatively simple in that the shutters were already existing. They just needed to be removed and then reinstalled in the same fashion.

This was a custom art installation in Nederland, Colorado. The back house needed a gallery wall to showcase the client's eclectic art collection. A new expedited process was implemented in that there was no preplanning. The wall was created one piece at a time. Under these conditions, there is a lot more pondering before the installation of each piece to ensure a solid flowing composition.

This was a custom fabrication and art installation for a client in Downtown Denver, Colorado. He wanted me to create a custom one-of- a- kind art piece that was based on his Triumph motorcycle. The art was made using a process of pigment-based image transfer on sections of Beetle Kill Pine. The installation was unique as well. Each individual section of wood had to be attached into the stud locations within the wall, which required a special 3d printed jig to ensure that each hole would be drilled at the same angle through the material to ensure proper structural performance.
This was a commercial art installation for Fort Collins Jeep, Colorado. This was a very challenging install because all 70 pieces needed to be installed with security hardware to prevent the valuable memorabilia from being taken off the wall. The design for this gallery wall was laid out on the floor first to ensure a strong flowing composition and then the mathematical location coordinates of each piece were transferred to the wall using a tape measure and reference laser for level and plumb accuracy.

This was an art installation that was completed for a client in Boulder, Colorado. This installation was relatively simple in that the wall that the art piece was hung on had plywood behind the drywall. My Leica laser was used to establish a perfectly level horizontal line so that the two screws needed to install the piece could be placed perfectly level ensuring that the final presentation was tippy top notch.

This was a custom fabrication and art installation for a client in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado. I took a section of plantation shutters and transferred art onto the surface of the shutters using a pigment-based ink hand transfer technique. The black anodized aluminum surrounding the shutter was hand bent and glued to the shutter. The entire piece is hanging from a custom fabricated samurai sword handle. The installation was accomplished by using a special structural wall anchor called a Snap Toggle. Once the anchor was installed into the wall, the samurai sword handle was bolted through the Snap Toggle using a threaded rod that was fastened to the back of the sword handle. The bronze ring of the handle acted as a giant washer to create a friction connection that was both structural and aesthetic.
This was a custom art fabrication and installation that was completed and installed for an art gallery in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The installation of the art was very challenging because the gallery walls were brick and mortar, that was very old and brittle. The art installation solution was to use Tapcon concrete screws. When using a concrete drill bit for a certain size hole, under these conditions, it was important to understand that the pilot hole would be larger than the actual drill bit diameter because of the brittleness of the masonry. The solution in this case was to hammer-in plastic anchors into the oversized holes so that the Tapcon could perform its intended structural function.

This was an art installation for a residential client in Broomfield, Colorado. There were multiple mirrors that the homeowner wanted to have arranged together, on a wall, in her home. As always, the composition was laid out on the floor first to ensure a strong composition and harmonious energetic flow. The mathematical locations on the floor were then transferred to the wall using a tape measure and a laser to ensure a near perfect relocation. When installing art that has installation wire on the back, I always install two anchors in the wall to ensure that the wire has two points of contact. I also install clear round bumpers on the lower left and right sides of each piece and adhesive putty to ensure that the pieces will not move out of level after installation.

This was a custom art fabrication and installation that was completed and installed for an art gallery in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The installation of the art was very challenging because the gallery walls were brick and mortar, that was very old and brittle. The art installation solution was to use Tapcon concrete screws. This was an art installation that was completed for a client in Broomfield, Colorado. The client had many pieces that represented his long journey to achieve his goals in the military and public service sectors. He gave me the freedom to create a gallery wall that would have a powerful literal meaning as well as a beautiful visual aesthetic. The pieces were laid out on the floor first and then transferred to the wall. The method of attachment for the pieces was micro nail Ook hangers, bumpers and removable adhesive putty to prevent the pieces from moving after install. The result speaks for itself.

This was a custom fabrication and art installation for a client in Washington, D.C. This was a pigment-based ink hand transfer on paper. The frame and acrylic glass were provided by an ultra- premium frame fabrication company called Metropolitan Picture Framing. The installation was straightforward because of custom 3d mounting brackets that were bolted to the back of the frame using threaded inserts. Once the brackets were installed the piece could be hung using two Ook micro nails.

This was an art installation for a client in Lone Tree, Colorado. The tasks were to curate the homeowner's collection and select and install the art using the large entertainment center as the primary piece of architecture for the art to enhance. The installations were accomplished using a combination of Ook installation hardware and custom 3d printed installation brackets for the larger piece and the ceramic necklace sculpture.

This was a custom art glass fabrication and installation for a client in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado. The glass design was accomplished by a master glass photo etching specialist. The samurai sword handle and tip are structural brackets used to hold the glass panel in place. They are also critical aesthetic design elements that reinforce the Japanese design theme of the work. Those two elements were 3d printed out of stainless steel and bronze powders that were fused together after printing.
This was a custom fabrication and art installation created for a client in Forest Hills, Washington, D.C. The art was created by scanning and photographing elements of Japanese Hanafuda cards. The image elements were then color altered and transferred to the surface using a pigment-based ink hand transfer technique. The maple leaf in the right corner of the piece was laser etched into the surface of the wood and then Dutch metal was inlaid into the laser impression. The installation was completely unique as well. Each individual section of wood had to be attached into the stud locations within the wall, which required a special 3d printed jig to ensure that each hole would be drilled at the same angle through the material to ensure proper structural performance.

This was a custom fabrication and art installation for a client in Lone Tree, Colorado. This piece was made from custom hand bent copper and polyester film. The composition was created as an abstract painting, it was scanned and then recreated using photoshop and a fine art printer. The graphics were transferred to the surface of the polyester using a method called pigment-based ink hand transfer. The installation was custom. A copper base plate needed to be set on top of 20 bolt shims which were set into the wooden mantle and then leveled. The piece was then fastened to the copper base plate and fireplace wall using custom milled copper fastening components.

This was an art installation for a client in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This was a beautiful oversized original painting that was installed using two 1/4-20 Snap Toggle anchors. A combination of 1/4- bolts and washers were then threaded onto the Snap Toggles creating the perfect structural elements for the D-rings on the back of the piece to engage onto and hold the piece in position on the wall.

This was the first and only product that was designed by Keywitz's owner Jeff Basinkewitz and Shane Mans from Resin Foundry. Many soda cans were crushed before the ergonomics of the can were just right. At that point the can was scanned and a 3-d print file was created. The final product was printed out of stainless steel and bronze powders. The product never got legs because of the production cost. It is a crushed can beer bottle cap opener. What a blast it was to produce. Not all creations lead to a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow but they are the building blocks of future success.

This was a monumental architectural art project in Boulder, Colorado. The house was completely dismantled down to bare studs and foundation and then rebuilt. Every element in the house was attached using screws instead of nails. This ensured a home that was left to the new owners with very little deferred maintenance. The materials used were a combination of new and reclaimed. No stone left unturned on this two-year long masterpiece. Truly amazing experience.

This was a meditation room in the Boulder, Colorado, architectural art project. All the walls were clad with cdx clear lacquered plywood. The floor was clad with pressure treated 3/4" inch plywood. The simplicity of the construction elements coupled with the choice of using wood created a serene meditative space with arresting power.

This was the master bath in the Boulder, Colorado, architectural art project. The walls and floor were clad with pressure treated clear lacquered plywood. The tub was found at a salvage yard, refinished and coated with a marine grade epoxy. The sink vanity was made from machine bent 1/4" aluminum plate stock and the towel slot was cut out with a laser. No trim material was used. This just further reinforced the element of craft on this project. No errors could be shrouded with trim. One material needed to connect near perfectly to the adjacent material. What a rush this project was for Keywitz.

This was an architectural art project created for a client in Greenwood Village, Colorado. It was a breezeway enclosure to unify the entrance from the garage to the main house. Every element in this project was designed, fabricated and installed by the owner of Keywitz, Jeffry Basinkewitz. The project was a year long journey to create a truly one-of-a-kind product.

This was a functional piece of architectural art created for a client in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado. The closet had a furnace in it and the task was to create a work of art in the form of a door that also had the functionality to allow for return air to travel through the door into the furnace intake. This was accomplished by sandwiching a piece of perforated aluminum between two halves of the door using threaded inserts and bolts. The characters in the door were cut out with a 400 watt Kern laser. The red handle was turned on a lathe and then stained with an oil based red gel stain. Needless to say, the client was pleased.
